Answer
Bo’s trainer states that one pace match was enough: the dog stopped when the handler stopped. That narrow criterion makes the block intelligible. Later, the same handler says he will lower the criterion and shorten the next repetition. The standard is explicit and adjustable, rather than a vague demand to do better.
A prediction can be useful for a different reason: it makes the handler’s interpretation checkable. Zeus’s record includes both a report that a repetition required less help and a confident prediction about the next session. Those are different kinds of statement. The first describes a comparison just made; the second needs later evidence and should never be converted into an achieved outcome merely because it was said on film.
King’s maintenance session names heel as a likely weak point before checking the wider command set. Another clip acknowledges a failed repetition. These examples show how to make a session readable without pretending every repetition worked. Spoken explanation also has limits: telling the camera the criterion does not prove it has been communicated clearly to the dog. The response and the timing of the consequence still need to be inspected.
